Penwith Gallery, St.Ives

The members of Penwith Society of Arts have donated their work to the gallery for the month of August so that all proceeds go towards both the preservation and regeneration of their historic and magnificent residence, the Penwith Gallery.

One of my paintings will be hanging on the wall for this unique show along with many established and up and coming artists.

The gallery is a major part of the history of the development of modern and abstract art within the artists’ colony of St Ives. Founded by Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson and Bernard Leach, the society has counted abstract artists such as Peter Lanyon, Patrick Heron, Terry Frost, Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, John Wells and Bryan Wynter amongst its members. The group was formed in 1948 in order to break away from the St Ives Society of Artists, which was too traditional for them. They wanted a space to show their new and exciting developments within art and then in 1970, the Penwith Gallery was born.
