SK painting used on Record Sleeve

Barrance Whitfield and The Savages, have used ‘The Eye’ for the cover of 7inch Zig Zag Wanderer. Also featuring Chronics ‘I’ve Got Levitation’

The original painting was linked to a song of mine called ‘Why’ and I needed a strong, determined eye to go with the story, which reminded me of an image I’d seen years ago on the front cover of National Geographic. This is the famous photograph of Sharbat Gula, taken by Steve McCurry in 1984.

I wanted my painting to look more sad than angry but I loved the colours and the feeling in the Afghan girl’s eyes.

I altered my original in Photoshop to reflect the psychedelic music inside.
